MY STORY
L&L Pops The Edible Collectible

My name is Doreen Wilcox, proprietor of L&L Pops, a company I began in 1995 in the beautiful state of Maine. Maine has a thriving tourism industry which helped spark the idea to begin research into a market that supplied an item that would be enjoyed by others as a Maine souvenir. I decided that a lollipop, described in the dictionary as a “glob of hard candy on a stick” which isn’t a flattering description for such a tasty treat, could be made into something very unique: moose pops and lobster pops, two items that resemble Maine’s most famous creatures. It all made sense, since I wanted to honor the state I live in by creating a Maine made product consumers could purchase to support our economy and ultimately support my family.
In the beginning, I was very passionate about creating a lollipop that would stand out. I devoted my time to research and took extreme care to create a homemade, olde fashioned lollipop made in eight different natural flavors. (with the exception of cotton candy)
Deciding a name for my company is a wonderful story, that took an easy path.. After all my children were the inspiration, so why not name it after them? Leah and Luke became L&L Pops. When our third child Mariah was born, it was too late to change my company name, thereby Mariah became the “manager” and the perfect taste tester.
Well it has been twenty five years of blessings in many ways. I have been able to shape a thriving business in my home and serve the community. L&L Pops can be found at the Paradies gift shop in the Portland International Airport in Maine, Kens Place in Scarborough and many more places. I enjoy giving back to my community when my budget allows thus I have been able to donate to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, PBS auction, Miss Maine competitions, African Children’s Choir, The Jay Maine Robotics team and many more organizations.
It has truly been the best of both worlds, to be able to do what I love and be there when my children were growing up! Thank you for considering my product!
